Title: Dynamic updates for NN pages Author: Mark Posted the: 29 Dec 2025 21:47 Category: General Talks

Dynamic updates for NN pages

There's a new version of nomadnet out (0.9.5). It adds support for page "partials" that can be loaded dynamically (and refresh automatically, if configured). I figured this would be nice for all you people making chat rooms, status monitors, that kind of stuff. There's a small description in the Guide section in nomadnet on how to use it. It supports fields, variables and manually triggered updates as well. Have fun building something cool! (ASCII webcam maybe?)

Reply: Also, could someone please update the text or background color of the input boxes here? It's impossible to see what one is typing!

Pro tip: Micron supports full-page background and foreground color tags to set bg/fg colors globally for the page.

Reply: Also also, this forum is fucking awesome. Whoever wrote this is a champ. Is the source available somewhere, or is it private? (totally understand if it is)

Reply: That's awesome Franky! Thanks so much for publishing it! And for all the other great software you've been working on. Really enjoying rBrowser. I added a new section to the Reticulum Manual with a more up to date list of available software and utilities, and I'll add Topics to the list as well when I get some time. Congrats on the new rmap.world too, it's looking great!

If you haven't seen it, both the manual and reticulum.network now point users directly to rmap.world and directory.rns.recipes for finding nodes to connect to.

Thanks for helping to keep the network strong!

Reply: Hi Mark! I'm really happy to hear some pleasant words from you, unfortunately both with rmap and other projects I had contacts with some of the same "troublemakers" with whom you had the misfortune to interact too, I perfectly understand the reason for leaving the public side of GitHub, you have my total support for your choices!! Suggestions from ignorant people and criticism of bugs that do not exist make you lose the desire to do anything!

Reply: I'm very pleased to be part of the reticulum world, I had seen the links of the software in the new manual but I still haven't gotten to the part that also mentions rmap! Regarding the partials of the pages I still have to study how they work and later I will add them for sure on rBrowser!! Thank you for everything you have built and for continuing to improve Reticulum day by day!

Reply: Ah yeah, I only pushed the release itself to pip, with GH still hanging at an old release. But the actual source and tags were pushed, but yeah, that might have been a bit confusing. Sorry, allowed myself some lazyness there ;)

I think I put direct links to rmap.world everywhere in the manual that mentions finding initial connectivity. If I missed someplace obvious, let me know!

Thanks for the words of understanding, it really does mean quite a bit to hear. Yeah, those people were draining more energy than what was reasonable, but still... they did. Sorry to hear your time being wasted too. Just ignore and leave them out in the cold, I should have been much more direct from the start and just banned people left and right, but wanted to try and be inclusive of everybody's opinions. Guess that doesn't really work out in the real world. Don't mind the morons - keep up the good work. You're doing a lot of great stuff for Reticulum as a whole; exactly the kind of stuff that's needed and useful right now.

Awesome if you get time to add the partials at some point! I know you have A LOT of stuff on your hands, so just wanted to mention it if you hadn't noticed, so that at least it's on your mind if the mood strikes you at some point :) Not really a lot using it yet anyways, but it could make some neat stuff once people figure out that it's there.

Reply: edf916191da5e2d4cd82655cd6fc9e8e:/page/index.mu Check out the color based pseudotimestamps I made with these partials.

By the way composing a message on TOPICS! is real hard with this black-on-black color scheme!! XD

Reply: Thank for your words Mark!! I started implementing the partials in rbrowser but is a huge work so it'll take some time, the main problem is that i need to edit the micron parser too to adapt to partials and at this time i'm finding it a bit difficult, but its another work in progress :)

Reply: It's nomadnet and the text is black on the default term bg color, which is very dark

Reply: I love the partials, though I am a little concerned to use them when they only work in NomadNet.

Reply: woah Mark is here! Awesome concept, partials. I am pretty addicted to developing with HTMX which hangs on the same concept, partial updates from the server. Its very neat, glad to see we have it too now!
